Nadia Sherman, MS, LPC (82181)
I consider you the expert regarding your own life, and I am your collaborator throughout the therapy process. My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and holistic, and I most commonly draw upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Choice Theory/Reality Therapy, existential, and interpersonal models of treatment. I pay particular attention to the quality and style of your attachments to others and consider the therapeutic relationship itself to be an important component of the healing process.
I believe that negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors relate to basic human needs that are not consistently or appropriately being met. These needs include love and belonging, survival and health, freedom and independence, personal power, and fun. I aim to help you understand the thoughts & feelings that influence your behaviors.
I think about the realities and tasks of what it means to be human and how this relates to your experience of the world. We may explore your awareness of your own mortality, exercising your free will, and finding meaning and purpose in your life.
