Drew Card, MS, LPC (77621)

I deeply honor the therapeutic relationship by maintaining the necessary conditions for trust, integrity, and compassion. By demonstrating a person-centered approach, I’m able to maintain a non-judgmental perspective, free of criticism. As we work together, I will assist you in exploring various means to move forward and “unstick” yourself. This drives us in a partnership that serves your personal goals and individualized plan of care. I believe in maintaining a flexible approach to each and every client and routinely utilize techniques from a multitude of theoretical orientations. A Rational-Emotive Behavioral approach to treatment allows you to confront self-defeating thoughts and behaviors and find concrete means to amend your existing “framework” for how you view yourself, others, and the world.

The reasons that I chose to become a Licensed Professional Counselor are many. In particular, my “rough go of it” early on in life lead to me dropping out of high school and getting my “butt kicked by the real-world.” These unique first-hand experiences taught me the value of an education and the benefit of having positive influences and a sense of direction when navigating great interpersonal change.

I earned my B.S. in Psychology from the University of Houston, an M.S. in Counseling from the University of Tennessee, and am now an Licensed Professional Counselor. I’ve worked as a high school counselor in a community based mental-health treatment facility with youth and their families and as a clinical therapist in an adult outpatient psychiatric hospital. Now I’m eager to work with you.
