HEAL. GROW. THRIVE.
Dee Young, MEd, LPC (69119)
Life is hard. But I believe we can manage the difficulties we face, and more importantly, learn to thrive by finding adaptive ways to better navigate and manage hardships.
My approach is non-judgmental and direct with compassion and honesty. I engage in active sessions and will not be a quiet listener who just takes notes. I work with clients collaboratively to establish therapy goals, staying abreast of them, and modifying as needed. I empower clients with in-session skills to learn, model, and practice related to improving emotion regulation, thought shifting, re-narration,

distress tolerance, and improving interpersonal interactions.
I utilize evidence-based approaches such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Somatic types of treatment, such as Emotional Freedom Techniques. I believe that childhood and early experiences/attachments shape how we relate to others, and I bring this understanding to the therapy room. In addition, I know that addressing early history trauma can be a difficult but an essential part of the therapeutic approach. I have the experience and evidence-based skills to provide solution-focused practices that can be pragmatically applied.
LICENSE, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Houston and a Master of Educational Psychology - Licensed Professional Track from the University of Houston. I have extensive experience with diverse client presentations in community health involving every age range in individual, couples, and group therapy settings.
